RAF SIMONS ARCHIVES SELECTED BY SAM LOBBAN
I first discovered Raf Simons work with the Autumn / Winter 2005 collection; the trousers were based on a Northern Soul style called Oxford bags, and I’ve always been super interested in the connection between clothes and music in British subcultures. As I looked more and more into his earlier work Raf Simons collections blew me away because he was taking inspiration from ideas that were so close to me personally, but completely taking those ideas to a new place through his high fashion interpretation…I’ve been obsessed with that early work ever since. Whilst the real hardcore fans say the 90s were the best collections, for me it really was those early 2000s years that I first got into which I’m still fascinated with and I also have a soft spot for the 2006 – 2008 years when I was buying product live in the season.
